Pandora Syperek

is a PhD student in the Department of History of Art at University College London. Funded by the Social Science and Humanities Research Council of Canada, her doctoral research is on the gendered aesthetics of jewel-like objects in the formation of London’s Natural History Museum. Her essay ‘An Excess of Prudery? Lilias Torrance Newton’s Nude and the Censorship of Interwar Canadian Painting’ is forthcoming in the anthology Contesting Bodies and Nation in Canadian History (University of Toronto Press). She has written on contemporary art for publications including MAP, Canadian Art and C Magazine.
