Jenny Pyke

is a Visiting Assistant Professor of English at Mount Holyoke College, where she teaches the eighteenth and nineteenth century British novel and Scottish literature, as well as courses on mermaids and Sherlock Holmes. She is completing a book manuscript on sympathy and the senses in the novels of George Eliot and is also at work on essays examining cartography in Scottish novels of the 1920’s and ‘30’s, synesthesia in Eliot’s fiction, and Victorian and twenty-first century taxidermy.
